Struzan inspired

Going through a big Drew Struzan influence at the mo. Using his familiar style to practice drawing people as its really not my strong point. This was also fun as it got me to use my Cintiq some more! :)

25 mins to do. Did a very quick line trace to save time on getting the proportions right as I wanted to focus on the shadows and light sources to bring the face to life rather than exact lines.

Vehicle concept

Got something new for the week! Tough week for inspiration but I finally got this out

Traditional #2

So to follow up on Quint, here is Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York. Possibly my favourite character in film since we hit the 2000s. Next week I'm thinking of a De Niro performance. So many to choose but I've always love him as Max Cady in Cape Fear...

Sci fi vehicle

Well I was doing really well with an environment piece. Thing had scale, really nice dynamic perspective and was near completion. Then it decided to become a corrupt file so now the whole thing seems lost! Yes I saved it along the way; it just chose to be rubbish. Anyway, rather than stress over recreating it from scratch (which I will probably do at some point) I changed tactic and went for a nice bit of vehicle design. Quite influenced by Scott Robertson's Youtube vids recently which are great go check them out. Image is below and on my site:

Big creatures have small beginnings...

Morning all. Monday is here and with an hour and 30mins I have been having a bunch o'fun using sketchbook on my mobile with the mirror tool turned on. It lets you basically create perfectly symmetrical forms and with just a black prush I have been knocking out weird creature forms for two reasons. One, so I can make a creature design and two, so I can use the fluid forms for its vehicle which will come later this week (or today even!).

Anyway here's part 1 with a man for scale. Just need to develop a design out of these...
